Markham is a town in the Regional Municipality of York in Ontario, Canada. It is located in the northeast of Toronto and is the largest in population of nine municipalities in the York region. Markham is also considered the 16th largest municipality in Canada with a community that has over 65 languages and cultures.

Markham is known as the High Tech Capital of Canada and the local government is dedicated to preserving the historical heritage and natural beauty of the area. Markham is home to number of vibrant and charming communities such as Thornhill, Cornell, Milliken, Buttonville, Box Grove, Berczy ,Armadale, Mount Joy, Cachet, and Markham Village.

The city has retained its rich historic past in several places of interest such as the Heintzman House, the Markham Museum, the Frederick Horsman Varley Art Gallery, the Markham Village, the Reesor Farm Market, the Thornhill Village, the Cathedral of the Transfiguration and the Markham Heritage Estates.

The Main Street Unionville and the Main Street Markham are also the main heritage streets in the area.
