Melbourne is a city situated in Florida's Brevard County in the United States. The city was intended to be a training area for the Confederate soldiers years ago during the American Civil War. Some of the soldiers who were trained there were attracted to the river and ocean, and when they returned, they bought land in the city at 5 cents per acre. When the Civil War ended, the pioneer families arrived in the city, and Melbourne was founded by former slaves around the late 1860s. The city received its name after being named after the city's first postmaster named Cornthwaite John Hector, who was an Englishman who had spent a great deal of his life in Melbourne, Australia.
Melbourne has developed greatly over the years, plus the opening of the Melbourne International Airport, opened more doors that boosted its tourism industry. Currently, Melbourne is becoming a hub of technology by having numerous technology and defense companies that concentrate on high-tech workers under its belt.
