About North Bay
North Bay is a city located in northeastern Ontario, Canada. It serves as the seat of the Nipissing District and takes its name from its northern position on the shore of Lake Nipissing. North Bay is a geographically unique city in that it is straddled by both the Ottawa River to the east and the Great Lakes Basin to the west. The urban core of the city is located between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake. North Bay's lush forests, spring-fed water and clean air are the perfect environment for living, working and raising a family.

The first person to explore the area of North Bay was Samuel de Champlain. However, it was John Ferguson who eyed North Bay's potential to be a promising spot for settlement in 1882. In 1891, North Bay was incorporated as a town. North Bay gained the status as a railway town and the city's economy grew even stronger with its strong lumbering sector and mining. In January of 1968, the City of North Bay amalgamated together with West Ferris and Widdifield townships.
