Olympic Valley is an unincorporated community situated in Placer County in California USA. It was also known as the Squaw Valley, but was renamed when the 1960 VIII Winter Olympics took place. The first Olympic Games held in the Western US and the first to be broadcasted. It was said that Olympic Village was erected with 600 roomy cottages to house only male athletes and the female athletes were housed elsewhere.
Olympic Valley was the site of the famous and best Squaw Valley Ski Resort, which is one of the largest ski resorts in the United States and the second largest at Lake Tahoe next to Heavenly. The resort operates the whole year and offers a range of outdoor and indoor activities may it be summer or the winter some of which are summer camps, horseback riding, swimming, spa, tennis courts, movie theater, and ice skating rink, skiing, biking, and hiking. A cable car is also available for everyone.
