Omaha is the largest city in Nebraska, a state in the United States of America and is the country seat of Douglas County. A historic preservation was held in the city in order to preserve various historical landmarks. This led to a number of historic districts and structures to be designated as Omaha Landmarks and listed in the country's National Register of Historic Places.

Omaha's cultural and historical attractions have drawn a number of tourists every year. Omaha is home to the largest community theater in the country - the Omaha Community Playhouse. The organizations that form the backbone of the city's performing arts community include the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, the Opera Omaha, the Holland Performing Arts Center, the Rose Theater and the Blue Barn Theater.

The Joslyn Art Museum, which was opened in 1931, now houses a significant collection of arts from all over the world. The Omaha Children's Museum is also a popular destination for families as well as the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts which is one of the country's top urban artist colonies.
