Oxnard is a city in the Ventura County of the US state of California. In terms of population, it is the largest city in its county. As of a 2006 census, an estimate of the city's population is an outstanding 192,997 people. Oxnard is also the largest city in the metropolitan area that it belongs to. It sits on the edge of Oxnard Plain and is known for its crops of strawberries and lima beans the city has been nicknamed 'The City that Cares'.

Two large US Navy bases, NAS Point Mugu, and Port Hueneme, are found in Oxnard. Port Hueneme is the busiest port in the area between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The city also serves as a major transit hub in Southern California because of the presence of Amtrak, Metrolink, and Union Pacific in the area. Greyhound and Intercalifornias also serve the city of Oxnard. The Oxnard Airport serves as the regional airport in the city.
