About Pacific Grove
Pacific Grove is located in Monterey County, California. It was founded by Methodists as a summer religious retreat and is still a venue for religious activities even by other groups. The city provides excellent services to its community and visitors.

Pacific Grove is famous for the population of Monarch Butterflies that migrates each year from Canada and Alaska and nest in the pines and eucalyptus trees of its Monarch Grove Sanctuary. So it was nicknamed "Butterfly Town USA". It is also known for its Victorian homes, some of which have been turned into bed and breakfast inns. The oldest and still operating lighthouse on the West Coast, Point Pinos Lighthouse, is located here. Found here also is the Stanford University's Hopkins Marine Station, the first marine laboratory of the Pacific Coast. Other attractions are its golf courses, the Asilomar State Beach, Pacific Grove Museum of National History, and the Stowitts Museum and Library.
