About Philadelphia
Philadelphia is the largest city in the US state of Pennsylvania and is the 49th most populous city in the world. The city has been nicknamed as the 'City of Brotherly Love' and 'The City that Loves You Back', but it is commonly known as 'Philly'. Historically, Philadelphia was the second largest city of the British Empire and was the geographical and social center of the 13 original American colonies. The city has also been the setting of many films including 1993's 'Philadelphia' and National Treasure.

The economic center of Philadelphia is centered on manufacturing, food processing, oil refining, healthcare and biotechnology. Tourism also plays a big role in the city's economy and is mostly driven by tourist interest in the city's historical sites. Popular tourist spots in Philly include the Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Other historic sites include the homes of gothic poet Edgar Allan Poe, Thaddeus Koscuizko and Betsy Ross. Tourists are also attracted to the city's many museums and cultural centers including the Franklin Institute and the Academy of Natural Sciences.
