About Pittsburgh
The city of Pittsburg is the second largest city in Pennsylvania. A 2006 census reports that Pittsburg has an estimated population of over 300,000. Nicknames given to Pittsburg include City of Bridges, The Burgh, Steel City, The College City, The City of Champions, Blitzburgh, and Roboburgh. It was founded in November 25, 1978 and was incorporated as a Borough in 1794 and a City in 1816. As several of its nicknames propose, Pittsburg is a city with many bridges. It was also the former steel manufacturing base of Pennsylvania and was one of the biggest in the United States. In 2007, Forbes Magazine listed Pittsburg as one of the cleanest city in the US and in 2008 they named it 13th best city for young professionals to live in.

Historically known for its steel industry, Pittsburgh's economy today is far more diverse and is largely based on healthcare, education, technology, fashion, robotics, and financial services. Currently, the largest employer in Pittsburg is the University of Pittsburg and the University of Pittsburg Medical Center. There are also several Fortune 1000 and Fortune 500 companies that have their base in Pittsburg. It is also the home of Bayer USA.

The city has also been home to several of the country's most famous writers including Rachel Carson, August Wilson, Michael Chabon, David McCullough, and Chris Kuzenski. Tourist attractions in the city include the Durquesne Incline, the Monongaghela Incline, the Gateway Clipper Feet, Fort Duquesne, Fort Pitt, Sand Castle Water Park, National Aviary, Carnegie Museum of Pittsburg, and the Carnegie Science Center.
