Rancho Mirage is located in the Riverside County of the US state of California. It was incorporated as a city in 1973, and as of the 2000 US Census, the city had an estimated population of 13,249. First modern settlers in Rancho Mirage, however, date back to the late 1920s and early 1930s. It is located in between Cathedral City and Palm Desert and is one of the cities in the Coachella Valley in the Palm Springs area.

The city is widely known for its 12 golf courses that attract the golfing crowd from surrounding cities and from all over the US. One of Rancho Mirage's most popular golf courses is the Thunderbird Guest Ranch, which opened in 1946. Other tourist attractions in Rancho Mirage include a 12-storey hotel and spa from the Agua Caliente Resort. In 2009, the city opened a state of the art theater dedicated to attracting performances from top named entertainers.
