
Rapid City is named after Rapid Creek and is the second largest city in South Dakota, United States of America. Rapid City is set against the beautiful slope, east side of the Black Hills mountain range and is nicknamed as the "Gateway to the Black Hills". Aside from that, Rapid City is also called the "Star of the West". Rapid City is split into eastern and western parts by a mountain range called the Dakota Hogback.
Rapid City houses several public sculptures that are available on display in various parts of the city. The most prominent of these public sculptures is a series of life-sized statues of the past American presidents that are placed on several street corners in the city. The city also contains several cultural resources like the Journey Museum, Heritage Festival, Art Alley Gallery and the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra among many others.
The Star of the West is hailed as South Dakota's primary city for recreation and tourism. Rapid City continues to develop both residentially and commercially and has a bright future of vast advancements in medicine, technology and scientific research.
