Red Deer, a city in central Alberta, Canada, is the province's third most populous cities. The city is located in aspen parkland and is involved in production of cattle, grain, and oil - thus, the city is considered as the center for the distribution of oil and agriculture while the surrounding region for the production of petroleum. The city is surrounded by the Red Deer County.
The city has a long history of different inhabitants which started with aboriginal tribes, then, Metis, fur traders, then, Europeans. The city was once incorporated as a town of 343 inhabitants in 1901. Developments were quickly implemented and the town became a city of 2800 inhabitants in 1913.
Attractions in Red Deer include the Waskasoo Park, Fort Normandeau Historic Site, Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, Heritage Square, Alberta Prairie Railway Excursions, and Sunnybrook Farm Museum and Interpretive Centre. Other points of interest include the Kerry Wood Nature Centre and Gaetz Lake Sanctuary.
