Rochester is a city in New York State, U.S.A. and is part of the Western New York region. Its metropolitan area is considered as the second largest economy, after New York City, in the whole New York State. Rochester is known as The World's Image Centre and has also been nicknamed as The Flower City.

Rochester houses several cultural institutions which include the Garth Fagan Dance, George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rochester Museum and Science Center. The points of interests in Rochester also include the Midtown Plaza, Geva Theater Center, Hamlin Beach State Park and the House of Guitars. The city's downtown area, in the East End District, contains nightspots ranging from restaurants, bistros, nightclubs, wine bars and pubs.

Rochester also has many festivals that are celebrated during summer and in late spring including the Corn Hill Festival, the Rochester International Jazz festival and the Rochester-High Falls International Film Festival. There are also the Clothesline Art Festival, the Rose Festival at Maplewood Park and the Irish Festival in September.
