Rosemont is located in Cook County in the US state of Illinois. It is a suburb of Chicago and was founded in 1956. A 2000 census reported the village population to be 4,224. Despite the small population, Rosemont is home to several big businesses as well as the expansive Rosemont Convention Center.
In 2000, Rosemont tied for first place with Bowdon, Georgia as the place in the United States with the highest number of people reporting Bulgarian ancestry. The median income for households in Rosemont was $44,939. It is also estimated that for every 100 females aged 18 and over, there were 111.2 males in Rosemont. Both men and women earn about the same median income with males earning $30,066 and females earning $30,015. Corporate headquarters located within the city include US Foodservice, Velsicol Chemical Corporation, the Taylor Capital Group, and the Banco Popular of North America.
The city sits directly between the Chicago and the O'Hare International Airport. Its location makes it a prime setting for hotels and office buildings. Several of the major hotels operating in the United States have a representation in Rosemont. These hotels include the Global Hyatt, Marriot International, Hilton Hotels, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, and Accor. Rosemont also has several convention centers including the Donald E Stephens Convention Center. The Rosemont Theatre is also used for theatrical purposes and the Allstate Arena hosts concerts and wrestling matches such as WrestleMania. The Arena also hosts the Chicago Wolves Hockey and the Chicago Rush arena football teams.
