Saint Louis is a city in Missouri, USA. However, the city name is usually written as "St. Louis". Several nicknames have been given to the city including the Gateway City, Gateway to the West, the Lou, and Mound City.
Saint Louis started as an area where Mississippian mound builders whose mounds are the reason why the city was nicknamed as the Mound City. Today, these mounds have already been destroyed although a scattered few are still in existence.
Attractions of Saint Louis include its architecturally significant neighborhoods which include the Lafayette Square, Compton Heights, Hortense Place, and LaSalle Park. Other attractions include the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Jefferson Expansion Memorial, and the Gateway Arch. The city takes pride in having the world record for its entrance arch which is the Tallest man-made monument from all over the US. Because there are a lot of tourism and attractions in the city, it has been considered as a great tourist spot.
