Shannon is a little town located in County Clare, Ireland. The town is named after Shannon River, the river near which the town stands. Shannon is one of the three planned towns in Ireland, the others being Wesport, the village of Mayo and Craigavon, the town in Northern Ireland.

Shannon is home to Shannon Airport, the second biggest airport in Ireland after Dublin Airport. It is one of the few airports with American border preclearance and is well connected with Europe, the UK and the United States.
