South Padre Island is located in Texas, USA. It is a barrier island and belongs under the Cameron County. The island was named after the catholic priest named Jose Nicolas Balli. Although comprised of only about 4.9 km², many vacation homes and resorts are in the area.

South Padre Island had to be rebuilt after it was struck by a hurricane. Due to that, the town flourished into a spring break haven for students and tourists.

Attractions in South Padre Island include Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark. Tourists often visit the city for its busy while its own festivals also draw a large amount of crowd, too. In fact, the South Padre Island International Music Festival attracts a lot of tourist each year. There are various water sports and activities that are being offered by the city. Activities such as fishing, horseback riding, ecological tours, and beach outings are also easily tried out by tourists.
