Sparks is a city in Nevada, USA; it belongs to the Washoe County. The city is also called the "City of Promise" and often referred to as "Reno-Sparks" which pertains to both this city and Reno. The twin city was formed as expansions in both cities gradually moved towards each other so that a clear boundary between them could not anymore be distinguished and is now more of a political boundary. Because of this, locals often joke: Reno is so close to hell, you can see Sparks.

Sparks was once a quiet, sleepy town named Harriman (from Edward Harriman) but was renamed after the Governor of Nevada (at that time), John Sparks. With the economic growth in Reno, several real estate developments occurred in Sparks; stores and industries, somehow, followed suit. Today, Sparks is a very modern city.

Attractions in Sparks include the Sparks Marina Park, Wild Island, Sparks Heritage Museum, etc. With its parks, golf clubs, and various points of interest, the city is also considered as a major tourist destination.
