Spokane is a city in Washington, USA. It is known as the Lilac City and has a motto of "Near Nature. Near Perfect". It belongs to the Spokane County and is its largest city and its county seat of power. Spokane River forms part of the city. It is called the Lilac City because of the abundance of lilacs in the area ever since these were introduced into the city.

The city was once known as Spokan Falls and the name derived from the Native American tribe of the same name which means "Children of the Sun". The city was once home to hunter-gatherer societies who had lived several thousands of years ago. Such were the ancestors of the Native Americans that also lived in the place.

These days, Spokane is a highly modernized city with millions spent to renew the façade of the city. Popular attractions include the Manito Park and Botanical Gardens, Spokane Falls, and Riverside State Park.
