Stockholm is the largest and the capital city of Sweden. It is made up of fourteen islands that are connected by bridges. The city is a lively urban area with a mixture of modern and Scandinavian architecture that decorate the cityscape.

Stockholm has an active cultural and art community and is also the home of many national cultural institutions. The Royal Palace Drottningholm, which is located within the Ekero Municipality and the Skogskyrkogarden have been proclaimed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Stockholm houses several fine shopping destinations found mostly in Norrmalm which is the city's major commercial district. The Gamla Stan or the Old Town is the historical center which is dominated by the Riksdag, or the Swedish parliament and the Royal Palace. It also has a collection of beautiful old buildings and cobblestone streets and is considered as the historical heart of the city.

Stockholm also contains a number of beautiful and interesting churches that even dates back to the medieval times. The city also has more than seventy museums including the Army Museum, the Butterfly museum and the spectacular Vasa Museum.
