Syracuse is a city in Southern Italy and is the capital of Syracuse. The city is known for its rich Greek history, fair share of amphitheaters, culture, architecture and its association to Archimedes. It houses an interesting mix of ancient and modern culture and architecture.

Syracuse is a fine city that can keep tourists occupied for a couple of days at least. It's a great area for exploring Baroque towns in Sicily, a number of archaeological sites and the beautiful city of Catania.

There are a great number of points of interests and main sights in Syracuse. These include ancient buildings such as the Temple of Apollo, the Fountain of Arethusa, the Theater with one of the largest cavea built by the ancient Greeks, the Roman amphitheater, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Tomb of Archimede. It also has a number of churches like the Basilica of Santa Lucia extra Moenia the Cathedral, the Church of San Paolo and many others.

Other sights also include the Castello Maniace, a fine example of military architecture, the Palazzo Lanza Buccheri, the Senate Palace and the Castle of Euryalos.
