The city of Tallahassee is the capital city the U.S. state of Florida. It is situated at the county seat of the county Leon and was established as Florida's capitol since 1824. The city boasts of a number of its colleges including the Florida State University, Tallahassee Community College, Florida A&M University, plus branches of Flagler College and Barry University.

Tallahassee has acquired the reputation o being the center for agriculture and trade in Florida. One of its outlets to keep trade and business flowing smoothly is the Tallahassee Regional airport. One of its major employers is General Dynamics Land Systems which is a manufacturing facility that specializes in combat and military applications. Other companies that lean towards the high tech economy includes Elbit Systems of America, Tallahassee Operations, which is a communications firm specializing in military operations.

The city got its name from a Muskogean Indian word that means "old fields." Upon arrival, the Indians located large areas of land that was cleared by the Apalachee tribe which occupied the place previously.
