Tavernier is a census place and town in Monroe Country, Florida with a total population of 2,173 with an island of Key Largo in the Upper Florida Keys. In demography, as of the census 2000, there were 938 households and 602 families residing in the CDP. There were 1,806 housing units with an average density of 267. 2/km2. Its racial make up are composed of White, African American, Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander and two ore more Hispanic or Latino Culture.
