Tel Aviv-Yafo is a city located in Israel. It serves as the center for Israeli culture and lifestyle, as it is where several museums, as well as music and arts centers, are established. The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and other performing-arts groups maintain a base in the city. Other significant organizations, like the Histadrut or the General Federation of Labor, and the Ministry of Defense, keep their headquarters in the city. The population numbers up to 368,635 inhabitants.
The city is also called Tel Aviv-Jaffa, and is the second largest city in the country after Jerusalem. Its warm climate and long stretch of shoreline dotted with numerous hotels and restaurants make the area a significant tourism hub.
The municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo is divided into two distinct regions, Jaffa on the south and Tel Aviv on the northeast. Jaffa is a historical district, as it used to be an arab town with narrow and winding ancient streets, while Tel Aviv is a modern district with wide streets and modern architecture.
