About Tijuana
Tijuana is located less than 20 miles south of downtown San Diego in Baja California, Mexico. It is the largest city in Baja California and is situated on the US-Mexico border just adjacent to San Diego, California, its sister city. The Tijuana metropolitan area is the sixth largest in Mexico with a current population of 1,483,992.

The land where Tijuana was built was originally inhabited by Yuman-speaking hunter-gatherers called the Kumeyaay. It wasn't until 1542 that European settlers arrived in the area. The beginning of the urban settlement of Tijuana was in 1889 when descendents of Santiago Arguello and Augustin Olvera entered an agreement to develop the city. The agreement was made on July 11, 1889 and is a date recognized to be the founding of the city. From the beginning of its inception, Tijuana saw its future in tourism. Being situated at the US-Mexico border, Tijuana formed an economical and cultural link to San Diego, California. Though tourism contributes largely to the busy movement across the border, much of the movement is also in part business-related.

Tourists from all over the world flock to Tijuana for two main themes namely shopping and nightlife. Tourists shopping at Tijuana can give them many Mexican goods for sale including great deals on leather goods. Aside from the bustling nightlife, tourists can also enjoy the famous Tijuana bull fights. Culture is not lost in this city as it boasts of an architecturally impressive cultural center.
