About Tukwila
Tukwila is a city in the King County located in the US state of Washington. It was incorporated in 1908, and as of a 2006 census estimate, the city has a population of 17,481 people. The metropolitan area that Tukwila belongs to is estimated to have a population of over 3 Million people. The city is located just 6 miles south of Seattle.

The area was first settled by the Duwamish, who made their homes along the banks of the Duwamish and the Black Rivers. The name of the city comes from a word that pertains to the lush forests and the chestnut tree found in the area. A Canadian pioneer by the name of Joseph Foster settled in the area in 1853. He would later become known as the 'Father of Tukwila'.

Several neighborhoods are found in Tukwila and these include Cascade View, McMicken, Riverton, Foster, and Ryan Hill.
