West Yarmouth is a place in the city of Yarmouth, Massachusetts. It is located in Barnstable County and has population of 6,460, as determined by the 2000 Census. West Yarmouth is a Census Designated Place, a CPD, and as of 2000, it had 2,911 households and 1,679 families. The city of Yarmouth and West Yarmouth itself are coextensive with Cape Cod.

The area is served by east west routes such as US Route 6A, Route 6, and Route 28. Freight rail service in Yarmouth is provided by the Massachusetts Costal Railroad. A portion of the Hyannis branch of the rail passes through West Yarmouth. Amtrak stations nearest to the city can be found in Providence and Boston's South Station. The closest airport to West Yarmouth is the Barnstable Municipal Airport. It is located just over the town line. National and international air service can be accessed at the Logan International Airport located in Boston.

The city's educational system makes up approximately ½ of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District. Two elementary schools are found in the city. For high school, students in the area can attend the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional. Students also have the option of attending the Cape Cod Regional Technical High School located in Harwich. Other schools located nearby include the Saint Pius X School and several other schools located in Barnstable.
