Wildwood city is in Cape Ma County, New Jersey and is part of the ocean city. A New Jersey legislature declared Wildwood as a borough on May 1, 1895. This is based on a referendum, held a year before. Wildwood became a city on January 12, 1912 replacing both Holly Beach and Wildwood.
Wildwood is a part of the Ocean City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wildwoods population is 5,436 but will reach more than 250,000 during summer time. This is because of the tourist flocking to visit Wildwood.
Wildwood is a resort city and is very popular with tourists and vacationers. Its' major attractions are its beaches and a 1.8 mile boardwalk. It is also home to Morey's Piers amusement complex with its raging waters Ocean Oasis water parks.
The city of Wildwood comprises of five separate municipalities namely, Diamond Beach, Wildwood Crest, Wildwood, North Wildwood and West Wildwood. The Lower Township governed these municipalities.
