About Wilmington
Wilmington City is a county seat of New Hanover County, North Carolina, USA. It was named in honor of the Earl of Wilmington Spencer Compton, a patron of North Carolina. In 2003, the city received the designation of "A Coast Guard City" through an act of Congress.

Wilmington is the home port of the United States Coast Guard Diligence, the World War II Battleship USS North Carolina (BB-55), now a war memorial which is open to the public, home to Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, the oldest Chamber in North Carolina, to basketball superstar Michael Jordan and other famous personalities. It has also been the shooting place for some American movies such as A Walk to Remember, Blue Velvet, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Empire Records, Cape Fear, 28 Days, The Crow, and Black Knight and Hounddog and television shows like Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill.
