Winnipeg is the capital of Manitoba, it is also the largest city in that Canadian province. It is notable for being located in the longitudinal center of North America and sits at the confluence between the Assiniboine and the Red rivers, referred to as 'The Forks'. Nicknames given to Winnipeg include Peg City, One Great City, The 204 (after its area code), The Peg, Heart of the Continent, Winterpeg, and the Gateway to the West. It was established in 1738 and was incorporated as a city in 1873.

The city has a diverse economy that covers industries such as financial, manufacturing, transport, production, food and beverage, and tourism. Tourism in Winnipeg is driven by its many attractions including the world's longest skating rink, The Forks, and the Manitoba Theater for Young People. It is also the future home of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, which will become the first National Museum outside of the Country's National Capital Region.
